Day 36
"Love is God's Word" "Your word is a lamp to my
feet and a light to my path."
(Psalm 119:105) Take what
you learn every day in the Bible and live it! Ponder what you
have studied and be on the look-out for opportunities to put
truth into action. The Bible is a living document because the
Holy Spirit, Who inspired the writing, is still alive in you as a
Christ-follower. And if you are serious about establishing
strategies for life based on God's way of doing things, He
will guide you to make connections between what you're
reading and how it applies. It's an enlightening journey with
discoveries to be made all the time.
Develop a plan to read the Bible every day, either by yourself or with your wife. Another step that couples can take in order to grow together spiritually is to go through a devotional together - or read a Christian book together; including the Bible. "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock." (Matthew 7:24,25) Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. (James 1:22) But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it . . . (2 Timothy 3:14) I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:10,11) For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. (Romans 15:4) "The yes to all of God's promises is in
Christ, and through Christ we say yes to the glory of
God."
(2 CORINTHIANS 1:20) Although the entire Bible
is a message to us today, not all of it is written directly to
us. The New Testament epistles are written directly to us who are
in the church, the Body of Christ, which includes all believers.
We do need to rightly divide the Bible, but since all the
promises of God are yes in Christ -- they find their fulfillment
in Him -- we can take any promise of blessing in the entire Bible
and appropriate it by faith. God has blessed us with every
blessing in Christ!
Scripture For Today: Psalm 37:1-6 ... How do you demonstrate your delight in God? What desires has He fulfilled in the last month? What desires are yet to be fulfilled and why do you think this is so? |
